About Stephen Parodi
My interest in medicine began after I volunteered in the emergency room at Marshal Hale Hospital in San Francisco, while in high school. Ever since that time, I have pursued the practice of medicine because I enjoy science and caring for people. I chose the field of infectious disease because of the sleuthing and detective work often required to discover the cause of a fever or unexplained illness. Additional training I received at the Tennessee State Health Department during my residency at Vanderbilt University showed me the tremendous impact a physician could have on an entire groups of people through knowledge about epidemiology.
I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2002. This unique group practice provides me with the opportunity to pursue my interests in clinical infectious disease and population-based medicine. The organization’s focus on prevention of disease, including the use of vaccines, is important and vital to the health of our community.
