About Sheila Mikhail

Sheila Mikhail is the founder of several entrepreneurial ventures in the life sciences sector. She has been a founder of several biotechnology companies, including Asklepios BioPharmaceutical, Inc. (AskBio) (acquired by Bayer 2020), Bamboo Therapeutics (acquired by Pfizer in 2016), and Viralgen Vectorcore SA (acquired by AskBio 2021), Chatham Therapeutics (acquired by Baxter (now Takeda) 2014), and Jurata Thin Film, Inc. She is also a co-founder of Columbus Children’s Foundation, a non-profit that develops AAV based therapeutics for ultra-rare indications.

Trained as a lawyer, she was the founder and managing member of Life Sciences Law, PLLC (LSL), a boutique law firm that focuses solely on the needs of biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies. In 2014, she retired from the practice of law.

Prior to law school, Sheila was a consultant for Arthur Andersen and A.T. Kearney. Following law school, Sheila clerked for the Honorable Martha Craig Daughtrey, 6th Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals, and practiced with Ropes & Gray (Boston).

She received a B.S., with highest honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a finance M.B.A., with honors, from the University of Chicago, and a J.D., with honors, from Northwestern University. She is admitted to practice law in CA, NY, NC
