About Helen Ward
I am a clinical academic with over 25 years of experience in research, education and applied public health. I have an international reputation for research on the epidemiology and control of sexually transmitted infections and HIV. My empirical research is multidisciplinary and I work closely with anthropologists, mathematical modellers and molecular scientists, leading to more than 180 publications. I also have an international profile for leadership of education in the health field, as Director of Education for the Imperial College School of Public Health, and lead for the Graduate Hub in EIT Health, a partnership of top European Universities and businesses promoting innovation in health and education. Throughout my career in academia and applied public health I have championed participatory approaches that involve and engage patients, students and the wider public. Building on this I established the NIHR Imperial BRC Patient Experience Research Centre in 2012, and lead on patient involvement as part of the Imperial College Outreach Strategy.
