About Emily Lawson
After 14 years at McKinsey, where I led the Firm’s work for clients on human capital and gender diversity, I joined Morrisons in Sept 2013 as Group HRD. I left Morrisons in June 2015 and joined Kingfisher, where I stayed til September 2016.
Prior to McKinsey I obtained a PhD in molecular genetics, and an MBA from the Said Business School. I also spent 2 years as business development manager at a biotech startup, Avitech Diagnostics, in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
I am passionate about designing and creating organisations that can help people do their best work, where the organisation’s goals and individual goals are aligned, and where the people strategy is an integral part of the business strategy. I continue to be a steering committee member of the 30% club, which aims to increase the representation of women on UK plc boards, and to research and support greater diversity, particularly gender diversity, throughout UK and global institutions.
