About Dave Scott

Dave has more than 25 years of experience building and leading high-performing teams at both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies related to Digital Surgery, Digital Health ecosystems, surgical robotics, and medical imaging and diagnostics. He has a passion for disruptive innovations and has built three startup companies which have all had successful exits.

Prior to joining Apple Dave was the VP of R&D and Chief Operating Officer for Verb Surgical, a joint venture between Google and Johnson & Johnson to build the next generation Digital Health and robotic surgery platform.

Prior to Verb Surgical he was the Divisional Vice President of Research and Development for Abbott Medical Optics, where he led programs in both Laser Cataract Surgery and Laser Vision Correction surgery. He was the Vice President of Research and Development for OptiMedica (acquired by Abbott Medical Optics), where he led the team that developed the Catalys system for laser cataract surgery. He joined Optimedica from Intuitive Surgical where he led the advanced imaging technologies team for the da Vinci robot surgical platform.

He was part of the start-up and leadership team at Xradia, Inc. (acquired by ZEISS) where he received a Research and Development award for the development of the Nano-XCT, a 50nm resolution x-ray tomography system. He is a co-founder of Varioscale, Inc., a start-up venture dedicated to bringing ultra-high resolution laser etching technology to the semiconductor community and lab-on-a-chip applications.

Dave has been awarded several patents in x-ray imaging, medical endoscopy and laser surgery applications. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
