About Alex Gorsky
For more than three decades, I have had the privilege of joining my Johnson & Johnson colleagues—all 137,000 of us, in 65+ countries—in devoting our lives to helping others and achieving significant healthcare breakthroughs. Our successes span pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer health products. We have developed lifesaving cancer therapies, deployed Ebola vaccines in Africa, pledged $100 million to fight health inequities for communities of color in the U.S., advanced cutting-edge robotic surgery technologies, and achieved the end-to-end development of the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine in just 13 months.
Knowing how our daily work impacts billions of lives energized and inspired me throughout my 10 years as CEO, and as Executive Chairman, I’ve made it my mission to continue to drive change in a world where prioritizing good health has never been more essential. It’s an honor to help uphold the 135-year legacy of the world’s largest and most broadly based healthcare company, and to be part of a global community united by the profound belief that we can and will change the trajectory of human health. This is particularly true as we continue to navigate our way through a pandemic that has underscored the critical importance of innovation and access to quality care.
Service to others has been—and always will be—a part of who I am. Outside of Johnson & Johnson, I have contributed to the healthcare landscape and the greater business community through my work on the Business Roundtable and the Business Council. I also currently sit on the Board of Directors of Apple, IBM, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, the Travis Manion Foundation, as well as the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania Board of Advisors.
