About Joan Perelló

Biotech entrepreneur with 15 years of management experience in various organizations, as CEO, Non Executive Director, President or Chairman. Co-founded Sanifit, where he is serving as CEO and has raised over €120M in equity and debt financing. Pioneered the international development of Sanifit’s lead candidate, SNF472, from academia to its clinical evaluation in patients on dialysis suffering from calciphylaxis and cardiovascular disease. Expertise in developing and implementing business plans, change management and transatlantic management.
Joan founded Conceptio Biotech and is Chairman of the Board at Numat Medtech and CIRCE Crystal Engineering.
He is President of the Balearic Cluster of Biotechnology and Biomedicine and Vice-Dean at the Official College of Chemists in the Balearic Islands, Spain.
Joan has earned several research and innovation prizes, including the National Prize for the best Doctoral Thesis in Lithiasis, awarded by Ferrer Pharma in 2005. He is co-author of over 50 peer-reviewed international publications, co-inventor of 11 international patents, and has participated in over 30 research projects, being the Principal Investigator in half of them.
Joan holds an MSc in Chemistry with first class honours, and earned his PhD from the University of the Balearic Islands, Spain, where he teaches Analytical and Clinical Chemistry as Associate Professor.
