About Robert (Bob) Abraham
I have extensive experience in both academia and the pharma industry, and have maintained a presence in both domains during my career. My academic career spanned 17 years, and I continue to publish basic research in top;-tier scientific journals (more than 40,000 total citations). I have served as Associate Director of Basic Science in the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, and as Cancer Center Director at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Institute for Medical Discovery prior to my departure from academia for a career in the pharma industry. In 2005, I joined Wyeth as VP and Head of the Oncology Discovery organization with oversight of programs from idea to first in human studies. I joined Pfizer after the Wyeth acquisition in 2009, and was eventually promoted to my recent role as SVP and Group Leader of the Oncology R&D Group. In this role, I oversaw the drug discovery and development efforts from idea to proof of concept clinical studies. I was also the founding Director of he Postdoc Program in Pfizer Worldwide Research, Development, and Medical. Finally, I maintain Adjunct Professor appointments at UC-San Diego (Department of Pharmacology), and at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Institute. In 2020, I moved to the biotechnology arena with my appointment as Chief Scientific Officer of an exciting, innovative drug discovery enterprise named Vividion Therapeutics.
