About Etosha Cave

“Pollution is nothing but the resources we are not harvesting. We allow them to disperse because we’ve been ignorant of their value.” -R. Buckminster Fuller

Every year US industries throw away over 5.5 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. What if CO2 could be instead converted into useful liquid fuels and chemicals? I study the electrochemical conversion of CO2 and water into various chemicals such as ethanol, methane, and carbon monoxide.

I am working to spin-off the technology into industry and put together a team of Stanford graduate students to work on this mission. We have identified potential customers and working to scale up the technology. We recently were accepted into a new type of incubator program in silicon valley called Cyclotron Road.

Technological success hinges on more than just engineering. Thus, I have participated in Stanford’s Ignite program to learn about the business of technology transfer.
